| TV Sports Presenting |

I love to talk. I especially love to talk about sailing. That’s why I am pursuing a career in TV Sports Presenting. I have been gaining experience and learning the ropes with the BBC & Sky Sports. I spent a weekend at the BBC Central Studios in Shepards Bush, London with the Producer of Grandstand, John Graham whom I met at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.
After that I went up to Liverpool to learn from top TV Presenter, Claire Balding whilst she worked at the horse racing at Aintree. I realised that a lot of skill is required to be able to talk whilst listening to instructions in your ear and ignore all the banter of the open feed from the editor who is communicating with all the camera, sound & editing personnel as well as with the presenters. Then there’s the external distractions of the loudspeaker, bells ringing, members of the public playing up. And the ability to fit in just the right number of words to fill the remaining seconds so you complete your sentence in the final second when the editor says, "cut".
Since then I have been to a Rugby Game in Cardiff with John Inverndale, the Rugby in Bath with Sky Sports on New Years Day and on the last outside broadcast I went to I was let loose with a camera man and a mic to interview the fans before and after a Rugby Game in Leicester and at the Guinness Rugby Final at Twickenham. This was a fantastic learning experience and I thou rally enjoyed it! I talked for hours with Colin Lewis who sharred his passion about working with the BBC whilst we were at the Parraolympic World Cup in Manchester. The following day I spent in the BBC North Studios with Gordon Burns in the News department.
I learned a lot from these different experts and at the end of July I got my first paid work as a Presenter making a piece fora documentary on the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. I was flown to Hull & Humber to great the boats as they completed their first practice race from Rotterdam. I interviewed Sir Robin Knox-Johnson, the crews, made links and intro's and presented live on stage during the awards. This was the best way to learn, hands on, with a team of a camera-man, sound-man & a director all willing to guide me in the right direction.
I would like to be working for the media at Beijing in one form or another.. Ideally as a Presenter for the BBC.
